Myoporum laetum.
Small tree with spreading branches and a gnarled trunk. It forms a rounded head. The bright shinning green long leaves have conspicuous oil glands. It has clusters of white spotted with purple flowers, followed by small reddish purple fruit. Occurs throughout New Zealand in coastal and lowland forests. Sea-level to 450 mt. It is frost tender until established, then can survive moderate frost. Can be trimmed to form a hedge. Grows in most well drained soils, tolerates dry, coastal and exposed sites.
