Lagunaria pattersonii
Tall columnar evergreen tree with leathery grey-green leaves. The tree is covered in showy bright pink flowers with a typically hibiscus-like golden stamen in the centre, in the late summer. Will stand salt spray coastal winds and drought. Prefers a sunny site, will tolerate some frost once established. Easy care, though avoid touching the seed pods as they can irritate the skin.
