Dacrydium cupressinum.
NZ's native Rimu tree. A large tree with dark greyish brown bark. When it forms a pyramidal shape with distinctive brown-green foliage overlapping around the weeping branches. Prefers soils with good moisture, and shelter from wind when young. Tree may live for 900 years. Occurs naturally in lowland and mountain forests throughout New Zealand. The fruit provides food for native birds.
