Carex secta
Tussock forming sedge, mature specimens with trunk-like bases comprised of matted rhizomes, roots and old culm-bases. Leaves are light green to yellow-green. Flower spikes pale brown, mostly clustered towards the ends of the slender branchlets. Seed heads a chestnut to dark brown. Thrives in wet boggy places. Full sun or shade. Widespread in NZ wetlands from coastal to montane wetlands.
