Sophora chathamica
Tall bushy tree with an upright habit. It matures to spreading branchlets bearing mid-green pinnate leaves. Through the late winter and spring it has clusters of bright yellow flowers. These are full of nectar for the native birds. Very hardy and grows well in most situations. It occurs naturally in open forest, along rivers and in open places in parts of the North Island, also the Chatham Islands.
