Deciduous bushy shrub with dark burgundy-purple leaves shimmering like a fine wine. The leaf color intensifies to near black in late summer. Masses of hot pink-rose colored flowers along the stems in spring. Very attractive. Hardy, Some sun preferred for good flowering. Fertilise in spring for the best flowering the next season. Trim out old stems in winter for best results. Will grow in most soils but needs to be well drained and mulch well.
