Physocarpus purpurea
A hardy deciduous shrub with large deep purple-bronze leaves. In summer clusters of tiny white flowers open from pink buds, leaves develop rich red autumn foliage. As the shrub matures it develops attractive peeling bark. Avoid dry sites. Will grow best in a sunny site. Great for the shrub border.
