Pachystegia rufa
CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Robust spreading shrub. The stout branches are covered with brown hairs. The large, leathery oblong leaves are crowded towards the ends of the branches, deep green and shiny on top, the undersurface is clad with a thick reddish-fawn tomentum. In spring it has large white daisy-like flowers with yellow centres. It ocurs naturally in northeastern Marlborough. Only a small population remains in the wild. It needs well drained soil and plenty of sunlight, never crowd out with other plants.
