Metrosideros 'Clevedon Red'
A natural hybrid between Pohutukawa and Southern Rata. Over time it forms an narrow, upright tree with an open habit. The leathery pointed shiny leaves are mid-green. Showy clusters of bright crimson flowers cover the tree in summer. It is more frost tolerant than Pohutukawa, though may need protection when young. Hardy to a range of soil types and sites, though will grow best in good soils.
