Ilex crenata 'Sky Pencil'

A holly which maintains its columnar shape without pruning. It is a dense, multi-branched, evergreen shrub with a tall narrow form. It is native to forests, thickets and mountain slopes in Japan, Korea, China and eastern Russia. It is noted for its ovate, glossy, spineless, evergreen, deep green leaves. White flowers bloom in late spring. A female cultivar which needs a male pollinator in order to produce the black berries. Very hardy. Great for structure in the garden.
