CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Round-headed branching tree with a short, gnarled trunk. Leathery glossy ovate deep green leaves. Small green flowers in spring are followed by green to black fruits loved by birds. Very hardy for dry, difficult or exposed sites. Tolerates very windy situations. Attractive leaves add interest to any garden. Makes an excellent hedge. Occurs naturally in lowland to mountain forests throughout New Zealand.
