Dacrycarpus dacrydioides.
      
    
White pine. The tallest of our native forest trees. Erect habit with slender drooping branchlets. The young feathery growth is brownish green, adult foliage is dark green. Prefers damp soils, and shelter when young. Grows in lowland to hilly forests, dominant in swampy forests. The fruit provides food for native birds, and eaten raw by Maori.
