Clematis 'Aotearoa'

Vigorous scrambler with deep violet flowers, anthers contrasting lemon yellow. Flower in early summer to early autumn. It needs hard pruning late winter. Good for enhancing roses, perennials and shrubs. Viticellas are extremely cold hardy and more wind tolerant than the large flowering types, are resistant to stem-wilt. Viticellas tend to be single stemmed and spindly growing in the first year or two. Thereafter they will grow very strong. Selected by Alister Keay from Christchurch.
