Ceratonia siliqua
Evergreen shrubby tree from the Mediterranean, with thick brown bark and dark green, leathery, pinnate leaves. Tiny green-tinted red flowers in spring, followed by edible black-brown leathery pods containing a sweet pulp. Hardy in hot dry conditions, avoid cold wet places.
