Atriplex cinerea
Low greyish shrub of open coastal areas. Leaves semi-fleshy, grey, with white flecks on surface. Twigs reddish, covered in fine grains. Flowers and fruit inconspicuous, Occurs naturally in New Zealand and Australia. Found on boulder beaches, within salt marshes, on sand spits and shell banks. Hardy ground cover for coastal sites, tolerates salt spray. Dense grey foliage and cream flowers. Attractive all year around.
